The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People®

Based on the proven principles found in Dr. Stephen R. Covey's best-selling business book, this workshop helps individuals become more effective in their personal and professional lives. Participants not only learn, but also use processes and tools to live and apply the 7 Habits.  Participants gain hands-on experience, applying timeless principles that yield greater productivity, improved communication, strengthened relationships, increased influence, and laser-like focus on critical priorities.


The 5 Choices to Extraordinary Productivity®

Participants learn a process which, when followed, will dramatically increase their ability to achieve life’s most important outcomes. Backed by science and years of experience, this course will produce a measurable increase in productivity and an inner sense of fulfillment and accomplishment. This will help managers make the right choices as they plan their day, week and life. DU Managers will align daily and weekly tasks with the most important goals. DU Managers will move from being buried alive to extraordinary productivity!


Crucial Conversations®

Crucial Conversations teaches skills for creating alignment and agreement by fostering open dialogue around high-stakes, emotional, or risky topics—at all levels of your organization. By learning how to speak and be heard (and encouraging others to do the same), participants will surface the best ideas, make the highest-quality decisions, and then act on decisions with unity and commitment.


Cultural Intelligence® (CQ)

Davenport needs faculty and staff who can be effective and respectful in a variety of cultural situations in order to recruit, retain, and graduate increasingly culturally diverse students.  We also need to build skill in Global and Intercultural Competence across our faculty and staff in order to support student achievement of the DU Excellence System outcome of Global and Intercultural Competence.  Cultural effectiveness has traditionally been very difficult to measure. Now, using the only evidence-based assessment of cultural intelligence (CQ), DU can more effectively assess and develop CQ across our organization.


DiSC (Behavioral Styles)

Employees discover their own behavioral style (DiSC), and learn how to identify, appreciate and adapt to the style of others. Participants will increase their ability to build productive, positive relationships that maximize performance and achieve excellence in service.  Strategies learned apply to both internal and external relationships.


 Learning to Listen

Learning to Listen is a communication assessment and soft-skills training program that measures both visible and invisible listening skills. This listening skills test helps individuals to develop their strengths and improve upon their weaknesses so they are better equipped to handle customer complaints, negotiate contracts, manage teams, and more. Learning to Listen is a great foundation for any communication skills training program.


Military Simulation

This online  to provide participants with an educational insight into the lives of some military students and colleagues. This simulation is a blended professional and personal development opportunity consisting of self-paced online modules, a workbook where you can capture your insights and reflections while going through the online modules, and a facilitated debrief session (online or in-person) to share your reflections and insights as well as develop action plans.


Passport to Success

This capstone to Davenport University's on-boarding process provides new employees with an opportunity to: develop a clear understanding of DU’s history, mission and vision; learn the “Davenport Way” by understanding DU’s STAIR values; and discover DU’s key selling points and understand your role as an ambassador.


Strengths Finder

Do you have a clear sense of your strongest talents and strengths?  People who focus on using their strengths are three times as likely to report having an excellent quality of life and are six times as likely to be engaged in their jobs.  Discover your strengths in order to maximize your contributions and leverage collaboration to achieve challenging goals.


Teaching Superpowers: Strengths Finder for Teaching Faculty

How are YOU leveraging your talents, aka your teaching superpowers, in the classroom?  In this highly interactive session designed especially for teaching faculty, participants will learn more about the strengths-based methodology, dig into their individual Strengths, and consider the ways these strengths connect to supporting and engaging students.  Reconnect with your teaching superpowers to power up your enthusiasm and rejuvenate your teaching practice!


Unconscious Bias

Now you can be sure your investment in unconscious bias training will have lasting impact. Based on the world renowned research on cultural intelligence (CQ®), Managing Unconscious Bias gives you an online tool for interrupting bias in yourself and others. With the science of cultural intelligence as the foundation, Managing Unconscious Bias gives you an interactive, online course that provides real life examples and practical strategies for minimizing biased actions and decision-making. Participants will develop the skills to manage bias and learn how to reduce the application of bias in the workplace and beyond.


Change Reaction: Understanding Your Response to Organizational Change

How do YOU respond to change?  Do you tend to move toward, away from or against change?  Change management theory suggests that organizations are in a continuous state of change; with this session you will learn the tools to power up your self-awareness to take control of your reactions to change. and minimize stress.  Once you are aware of your typical response to change, you have the option to make different choices that can reduce stress and help you consistently engage in proactive behaviors that effectively support and initiate change.


Conflict Strategies

A combination self-assessment, workbook, and classroom workshop, Conflict Strategies improves an individual's ability to successfully handle workplace conflict.  Based on more than 35 years of research, this development program explores five different strategies: Integrating, Compromising, Competing, Smoothing, and Avoiding. Most importantly, the Conflict Strategies Inventory accurately identifies one's typical reaction to conflict, examines the potential outcomes associated with each strategy, encourages the use of more effective tactics, and provides skill practice in resolving day-to-day issues.


LEAD (Lead, Engage and Develop)

LEAD (Lead, Engage and Develop) is 12-month program designed for employees to
build leadership skills within their team and for aspiring leaders. Participants will develop leadership competencies (skills and behaviors) that contribute to superior performance. The curriculum will include in-seat and online content. Topics include: DU STAIR Values in Action, Problem Solving, Building and Leading Teams, Developing People, Influencing and Persuading, Embracing Diversity, Leading Innovation, Managing Priorities and Strategic Planning. Additional elective topics will be available. Networking opportunities and mentoring will be included.


Leadership Academy

Leadership Academy is 9-month program designed for current managers and high-potential employees. Participants will develop clarity around DU’s mission, vision and values and learn how to apply the 4 Essential Roles of Leadership: Inspire Trust, Create Vision, Execute Strategy, and Coach Potential. To create an inclusive work environment where engagement and empowerment drive results and support employee satisfaction, participants will build competency in Crucial Conversations, leading across generations, and managing unconscious bias. Team project work will allow participants to enhance their problem solving skills using the DMAIC data-driven improvement cycle.
