Davenport University’s 2022 BPA team traveled to Dallas, Texas, to represent the University and the State of Michigan at the 2022 BPA National Leadership Conference. During the conference, Davenport University students earned 11 state champion titles, nine runner-up titles, and 12 third-place finishes.
Davenport University and Grand Rapids Public Schools just signed an agreement that will create 75 new scholarships toward urban STEM education degrees for current students, staff and parents within the school district. Grand Rapids Public Schools is the first school system to take advantage of this new program, which Davenport is offering to school districts statewide.
This past December, Dr. Amy Mansfield, Davenport’s dean of the Donald W. Maine College of Business and the College of Technology, presented Mildred (Mitchell) Laham with an honorary associate's of business administration in accounting degree. Laham’s son and daughter were in attendance to witness the recognition of their mother, who attended Davenport from 1939 to 1941.
Beginning this spring, Davenport is revamping its Warren Campus to house additional classrooms, two science and two nursing labs, two computer classrooms plus a ‘flex’ computer lab, and all faculty and staff offices. The campus also features collaborative spaces, student-controlled meeting rooms, and upgraded WiFi services.
Going back to school over the age of 40 did not sound appealing to Mia Johnson. As a human resources professional in Detroit, Michigan, Johnson was looking to upskill within her field. Concerned about how she would balance her professional commitments and her coursework, Johnson thought earning a graduate degree was out of her reach. Through a partnership between her employer and Davenport, Johnson soon realized that she could do it all. Her only regret: she hadn’t done it sooner.
