Worker's Compensation

Davenport University workers’ compensation coverage, through our partnership with the Michigan Independent Colleges & Universities, provides benefits to employees who suffer an injury or illness that is specifically and clearly caused while the employee is in the course and scope of their employment. For an injury to be compensable, employees must prove an injury “arising primarily out of, and in the course and scope of, employment.

An employee who incurs a job-related illness or injury is required to report it immediately to their manager (or as soon as possible after needed medical attention). In addition, the employee must then contact Public Safety to file an accident / incident report as soon as possible. Public Safety will provide information regarding medical treatment, if needed. Forward all written documentation, witness reports, and the accident / incident report to the Human Resources Office immediately, as well as any medical documentation. Contact if you have further questions.

Please see Workers’ Compensation policy in the Employee Handbook.

If you work outside of Michigan, we are required to provide the following Worker's Comp Posting Notices:
• Arizona
• Illinois
• Kentucky
• Massachusetts
• New Jersey
