BONFIRE POLICY
Outdoor bonfires are prohibited on all DU campuses except for the Lettinga Campus where prior written approval is required from the Assistant Director of Housing and Residential Life or his/her designee.
When approving a bonfire, the Assistant Director of Housing and Residential Life will notify via email the Lettinga Campus Facility Director and the Vice President of Risk Managment, providing these individuals with the details of the event.
- The Facility Director will notify the local fire department. The fire department has final approval regarding the bonfire and may cancel the event without notice dependent on weather and other safety considerations.
- The Facility Director will provide the bonfire sponsors with a fire extinguisher which must be in close proximity to the bonfire. The extinguisher is to be returned upon conclusion of the event.
Music is permitted as long as it does not bother area residents.
Bonfires are permitted between the hours of 6:00 PM and 11:00 PM.
