Application Process

General Guidelines and Information

The Legacy Endowment is intended for academically-related initiatives not subject to regular university or departmental budgets. It does not duplicate the purposes of the university scholarship fund.

All staff and faculty across the university's campuses and colleges are eligible and encouraged to submit proposals.

Applying for Legacy Endowment funding follows protocols consistent with seeking outside grant and funding. As a first step, applicants are required to obtain approval (letter of intent) for their initiative with their appropriate department chair or administrative supervisor by Wednesday, September 30th.

Letter of Intent

Proposals are accepted at the onset of each academic year during the specified submission period. Applications for grant funds for the 2020-21 year will be accepted via the website through Monday, October 12, 2020. The committee will review applications in November with notification in December.  Applications will outline the following:

  • focus of the project
  • impact and outcomes
  • resources required (budget, equipment, personnel, facilities, etc.)
  • implementation timeline

Applications that receive administrative approval will be reviewed by an Advisory Committee, which will take one of three actions:

  • Approval for either full or partial funding
  • Return for further development and possible resubmission
  • Decline

Notification will take place according to the grant timeline.

At this time, the Legacy Endowment may provide grants up to $15,000.
