Professor Sneath leads the development of the University’s experiential learning program involving students, faculty, and staff in community engagement efforts such as academic service learning, business and industry projects, and internships at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He also coordinates Davenport’s credit for prior learning portfolio assessment process.

His professional experience includes leadership roles in non-profit organizations in Detroit and Cincinnati collaborating on community development projects involving students, faculty, and community interests. For over 15 years, he has taught courses with academic service-learning and internship components in the first-year experience, culture studies, and English areas. At Davenport, he teaches in English, social science, and MBA programs. His research interests include experiential education and the formation of intentional communities. He has published in the areas of community needs assessment and student experiential learning outcomes.

Professor Sneath holds certifications in experiential education through the Experiential Academy of the National Society for Experiential Education and in prior learning assessment from the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning. He is also engaged in leadership roles in the Michigan Campus Compact, the Grand Rapids Collegiate Network, and is a past participant in the Heart of West Michigan United Way’s Loaned Executive Program.
