Professor Owens is an Occupational Therapist with more than 35 years of experience and joined Davenport University in February of 2014 as the founding Academic Fieldwork Coordinator in the Occupational Therapy Program. She comes to Davenport with extensive experience in school based practice and has recently served as the Special Education Supervisor for Muskegon Public Schools. Previously, she was a Special Education Supervisor in the Michigan and Indiana school systems for more than 15 years.

In addition to working with children with special needs in the educational system, she has worked in hospitals where she held the positions of Director of Occupational Therapy and Director of Rehabilitation Services. Professor Owens has also been an adjunct faculty member of Grand Valley State University, where she taught a program for enhancing learning through applied brain research. She was also a professor at Eastern Michigan and Wayne State Universities over a 15-year time-frame. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from Eastern Michigan University and a Master of Science in Education from the University of Michigan. Professor Owens was licensed as a Brain Gym® Instructor in 2004 and has taught Brain Gym® extensively since that time. She currently travels throughout the country and teaches Brain Gym® to educators, health care professionals and parents.
