Frequently Asked Questions 

Welcome to du dining! we are looking forward to having you join us this fall. while fall will look different this year you can count on us for the great service and delicious meals. we know you will have questions and here are a few q &As to get you started. 

What is DU Dining doing to keep students, staff & employees safe when everyone returns to campus?

  • Surfaces will be cleaned and sanitized regularly with EPA approved solution. 
  • All staff are required to undergo daily screening for symptoms of COVID-19 and DU training in addition to COVID-19 food safe training via the National Restaurant Association and ServSafe.
  • Utilization of plexiglass barriers between customers and staff
  • Face coverings will be required at all times for staff and customers in dining facilities 

Will dining hall be open?

Yes, our south hall dining hall will be open for all-day dining. We will be opening with two phases. Phase one for dining will be carryout only and when it is safe we will move into phase two, carry out, and in-seat at limited capacity. 

Will the Panther Den and The HUB be open?

Yes, both retail will be open for carryout and mobile ordering. Mobile ordering will be available through our Eatable App 

Where do I purchase meal blocks? 

You can contact the dining office 616-871-6752 or You can purchase at the panther den.

Can you use Panther Dollars in dining? 

No, you may not use panther dollars in dining. They are used for printer, bookstore, and laundry 

What happens to the dining dollars I don’t use?

Dining Dollars expire at the end of each semester.

What if I don’t use all of my available meals?

Meal plans reset Sunday night at midnight.  Depending on the plan selected, you have 7 days to utilize the total number of meals.  These meals can be used anytime the Dining Hall is open.  They do not carry over to the next week or the next semester.

The Lunch Blocks are the only meal plan that carries through as long as you are enrolled students or a member of Davenport Staff or Faculty. 

How do I check the balance in my account?

Your personal account information can be accessed at the DUposit page.

Dining dollars or dining plans can be accessed on the dining app. 

Can I use my meal plan to buy lunch for someone else?

The Platinum, Unlimited, and Gold Plans are intended for use by the plan owner only.  You can use your Dining Dollars to buy a meal for a guest if you have these meal plans. 

Block plans allow you to use your meals for yourself or anyone else.  However, when a block plan is used up, more meals must be purchased.

What if I have special dietary needs?

The Dining Services culinary staff is happy to assist you. Send us an e-mail or contact the Dining Services Office directly at 616-871-6752.  They will work with the Executive Chef and culinary staff to assist you with your needs.

How are Dining Hall hours determined?

Dining Hall hours are set by the DU administration, with guidance from Dining Services and Residence Life.

Based on DU Resident's needs, and feedback through surveys and the Housing Advisory Team, it was determined we would better serve our customers with an all-day dining operation.
